Here are two views of this fused glass spoon rest. It is about 7 1/2″ long, so it doesn’t take up a lot of space on your stove. The amber-colored glass has an iridescent coating, which gives it a very interesting look to it. The fused glass spoon rest is decorated with small white squares inside slightly larger black squares.

Do you have a tutorial on making these spoonrests? I have acquired a Jen Ken glass kiln and I am teaching myself. I would love to make some of these as gifts but have no idea how opr what to do after I buy a spoon rest mold.
Thanks for your help,

Hi Doris,
Sorry, but I don’t have a tutorial for making spoon rests. First, make a template of your spoon rest on some thick paper. Use this template to draw the shape of the spoon rest on the glass you want to use. I use two layers of glass and fuse them together. Then, cut out the shape. Don’t score right on the line right away, because the glass will tend to crack in ways you don’t want it to. Start by scoring about 1/2″ away from the line on one side and break the glass. Do the same on the other side. Then, score on the line and repeat. The glass still might crack in ways you don’t want it to — it just takes practice. That’s it.
Have fun!
