Blue Fused Glass Snowflake

This fused glass snowflake is another one of Dave’s creations.  We learned from fusing this snowflake that different kinds of glass fuse at different temperatures.  This particular glass needed a higher temperature to get it to look like the other snowflakes.

We have no idea why this glass is so different.  We also don’t know what kind of glass it is.  However, pieces of glass from the same sheet of glass will fuse to itself.  There is so much to learn about glass :)

Snowman Fused Glass Sun Catcher

This Snowman Fused Glass Sun Catcher finally got a chance to get its picture taken.  Although there isn’t any snow where I live in Oregon, I know a lot of you are getting a lot of snow.  We like living here, because we don’t have to shovel snow!!!  If we want to play in the snow, we can drive up into the Cascade Mountains where there is a lot of snow.

However, I was looking at some pictures from a few years ago around Christmas and I was making a snowman from real snow!  Now that was very unusual.  However, my snowman didn’t look like the snowman in this fused glass sun catcher :)

Iridized Fused Glass Snowflake Ornament

Here is another Fused Glass Snowflake Ornament or Sun Catcher.  It was made with a clear iridized glass.  The iridized layer is a metallic layer that picks up colors from the surrounding area.  This fused glass ornament or sun catcher really sparkles in the light, so hanging it in a window will really show off the iridized layer.

My husband made several like this one.

Red Fused Glass Snowflakes

My husband made these fused glass snowflakes.  Aren’t they just so cute!!  He cut out all the small pieces, washed them and glued them together.  I fired them in our small Skutt Firebox.  It will fuse four at a time.

I added some white frit to the second fused glass snowflake for a different look.  What do you think?  Let us know — we love to get your comments!!

Green Tree — Fused Glass Sun Catcher or Ornament

Fused Glass Sun Catcher -- Tree

This cute fused glass sun catcher or ornament was made by my husband.  He enjoys making the snowflake ornaments and tree ornaments.  He used two different colors of green translucent glass to give this fused glass sun catcher more interest.

Christmas Glass Ornaments

My husband, Dave, has been making a lot of ornaments and I wanted to show you some of them.  I bought him more glass, like cherry red iridescent, which should turn out gorgeous.  I also bought him some cherry red glass, pale blue, peppermint baroque and more colors that I can’t remember right now. :)

Blue Glass Snowflake

The blue glass in this snowflake has an iridized layer.  The irid layer adds a neat effect.  Can you see it in this picture?

It seems very early to be thinking about snowflakes, but we have discovered that people are buying them throughout the year.  My husband, Dave, makes most of the snowflakes and he has started making more.  He does most of the work while watching tv.
