Fused Glass Vase with Clear Iridized Glass

Fused Glass Vase

This fused glass vase or candle holder was made with a clear iridized glass with some texture.  Putting a candle in this fused glass vase will create some unique colors!

I made this fused glass vase by cutting a piece of glass 10″ by 10″ and draping it over a cone mold.  Draping means the glass falls down around the mold.  These fused glass vases sell quite well at our Art Festivals.

Fused Glass Pendant — Red Butterfly #3

From the last posting I made, I wrote about two Fused Glass Butterflies I had made for a customer.  She told me what changes she wanted for the butterfly.  This is what I came up with.  My customer really liked this design!  She told me she wanted it slumped, like the fused glass pendant from a couple of years ago.  I have done that.  Now, I need to drill holes in the wings, so it can be worn as a pendant for her friend who is getting married.

I am glad I was able to make her happy with this fused glass pendant!

Fused Glass Pendant – Red Butterfly

Butterfly #1

Butterfly #2

In 2007, I blogged about a fused glass red butterfly pendant I slumped to give it dimension.  A couple of weeks ago, a customer asked me if she could buy the fused glass pendant for a friend who is getting married.  Unfortunately, the butterfly came with the mold, so I didn’t have another one to sell her.

Since I started using a ring saw to cut out shapes, I told her I would try to recreate the butterfly.  The fused glass butterfly #1  in the picture above is the first one I cut out.  I didn’t think it was like the original butterfly, so I cut out a second butterfly.  I liked this one better.

However, the customer didn’t care for the first butterfly.  She wanted the top wings larger and the bottom wings smaller.  I made a sketch of another butterfly and she really liked it, so I will be cutting out another one tomorrow or the next day.
