Red and Silver Fused Glass Earrings

Red Fused Glass Earrings

These fused glass earrings are so cute!  My inspiration for making these earrings came from the need for red dichroic fused glass earrings.  There isn’t any dichroic glass that is red.  There are a few that are close, but they are more of an orange color.  So, I thought I would put silver dichroic glass on top of some red opal glass.  I have made some pendants that are similar to these, as well.

I recently talked with a lady who puts red translucent glass on top of silver dichroic on clear glass.  This also looks very nice.  I later tried this, but I couldn’t see the dichroic through the red glass.  So, I realized I needed to use a thin red glass instead of the regular thickness.  I keep forgetting to buy the thin glass, but one of these days I’ll get around to it!

Gold Fused Glass Earrings

Fused Glass Earrings

These small fused glass earrings are really cute!  The gold dots are dichroic glass, which makes these glass earrings sparkle in the light.  The dichroic glass also changes color as the earrings are moved around and also tend to change color depending on what colors are behind or next to it.

These fused glass earrings are post earrings.  I fused the gold dichroic layer of glass to a black layer of glass.  The finished fused glass earrings were glued with a very strong glue to surgical steel posts, which do not contain any base metals.    Anybody would love wearing these cute glass earrings!

Cute Magenta Fused Glass Earrings

Magenta Fused Glass Earrings

These fused glass earrings are so cute.  They are post glass earrings.  The dichroic is a crinkle, which means there is crinkly texture to it.  To get the crinkle texture for these fused glass earrings, the dichroic needs to be fused without any other glass over it.  I haven’t tried fusing the crinkle dichroic with a cap over it, just to see what happens to it.  I think I will do an experiment- so I know what to tell people.  There are other colors of this crinkle dichroic which I have used in other fused glass earrings and pendants.

Set of Red Fused Glass Pendant and Earrings

Red Fused Glass Pendant       Red Fused Glass Earrings

This set of a fused glass pendant and fused glass earrings were made with the same color of glass and type of dichroic glass.  I used a red glass for the base and a silver dichroic called “Seeds Reverse.”  I really like this type of dichroic glass, because it has irregular holes in it, so you can see the color below.  I have made other fused glass pendants and fused glass earrings with this same dichroic glass, only I used a turquoise blue and a green glass below the dichroic.  I will post pictures later when I get the bails glued on and pictures taken of them 🙂

Gold Basket Weave Fused Glass Earrings

Fused Glass Earrings

I recently took  pictures of some of my fused glass earrings for my website.  These glass earrings are one of them.  I bought the dichroic glass in this pattern, so I just cut the glass to the shape I wanted, put some clear glass on top, and did a full fuse.   I glued the bails to the back and added the ear wires.  What do you think?  Do you like them?

The 34th Annual Spring Fair at the Douglas County Fairgrounds

The Spring Fair was held March 27-29, 2009.

Christine’s Grandmother passed away on March 26, so she flew back to Minnesota on Friday while David set up for the Spring Fair and was at the booth all three days by himself.  He had a great time seeing past customers and meeting new people.  He sold a wide variety of our glass art, such as dichroic glass pendants, dichroic glass earrings, glass bowls, a daisy sun catcher, a few clear iridized glass vases, a fused Jack Daniels bottle, a fused Crown Royal Bottle, several slumped and fused Grey Goose Bottles, and others.

There was a lot of entertainment for everyone’s enjoyment. There was a stage for a wide variety of entertainment, such as bands, singers, storytellers, bellydancers, etc.

David was so exhausted from the weekend that he didn’t even go to his Monday night game night with his buddies.  He never misses his game night:(

He did a great job even though I wasn’t there.  Thanks so much for his support during my absence.

Black and Clear Glass Earrings with Teal Dichroic Glass

Glass Earrings

I wanted to play around with clear, black, and teal dichroic glass in these glass earrings.  I made two circles of clear glass and fused some small black pieces to the back of the glass earrings.  Then I put a couple of pieces of teal dichroic on the top of the glass earrings.

It is really hard to work with such small earrings and also to get them to look somewhat alike 🙂

The dichroic glass is very subtle, but adds a unique design element.  These glass earrings could be worn with almost any outfit.
