Red and Silver Fused Glass Earrings

Red Fused Glass Earrings

These fused glass earrings are so cute!  My inspiration for making these earrings came from the need for red dichroic fused glass earrings.  There isn’t any dichroic glass that is red.  There are a few that are close, but they are more of an orange color.  So, I thought I would put silver dichroic glass on top of some red opal glass.  I have made some pendants that are similar to these, as well.

I recently talked with a lady who puts red translucent glass on top of silver dichroic on clear glass.  This also looks very nice.  I later tried this, but I couldn’t see the dichroic through the red glass.  So, I realized I needed to use a thin red glass instead of the regular thickness.  I keep forgetting to buy the thin glass, but one of these days I’ll get around to it!

Almond Fused Glass Pendant with Asian Symbol of Love

Almond Fused Glass Pendant

These fused glass pendants are fun to make.  The black symbol is a decal and I have used many different ones.

I’m not sure if the symbol is Japanese, Chinese or another language – does anyone out there know?

Black Heart Fused Glass Pendant

Fused Glass Pendant Black Heart

I just made this fused glass pendant for a customer.  I had a red heart glass pendant on display at our booth at an Art Festival.  A lady asked me if I had a black heart glass pendant and I told her that I didn’t.  However, I told her I would make one for her, if she wanted and she said “REALLY!!”  She told me that she used to have one that her father gave her a long time ago and she had lost it.  She felt really sad about losing it, because her father had made it while serving in the military.  She wasn’t sure how he made it.  She had been looking for a replacement until she saw my red heart fused glass pendant.  Apparently, it resembled the one she lost.

I told her I was very busy with Christmas orders, so wouldn’t get to it until after New Years or so.  She said that was fine, since it was for her, anyway.  After I made one for her, I needed to glue a bail onto the fused glass pendant.  Well, the bail came off after my husband does his “test” to see if the bail is secure.  This glue wasn’t very old, so I was surprised that it didn’t work.  So, I opened a new package and glued the bail on the glass pendant, again.  This time – success!

I got an email from the lady when she got her new fused glass pendant.  She said she loved it and it was worth the wait 🙂

Dichroic Glass Bracelet

Fused Glass Bracelet

Dichroic Fused Glass Bracelet

This dichroic glass bracelet has emerald dichroic glass glued onto a special bracelet made for it.  The colors of the dichroic glass change when it is in the sunlight and moved around.  I had it on display at our booth and a guy walked up to it and said each piece looked like a different color – like a rainbow of colors.  When he got close to it, he realized each piece was the same color, but still he was so impressed by how the colors changed.

Cute Magenta Fused Glass Earrings

Magenta Fused Glass Earrings

These fused glass earrings are so cute.  They are post glass earrings.  The dichroic is a crinkle, which means there is crinkly texture to it.  To get the crinkle texture for these fused glass earrings, the dichroic needs to be fused without any other glass over it.  I haven’t tried fusing the crinkle dichroic with a cap over it, just to see what happens to it.  I think I will do an experiment- so I know what to tell people.  There are other colors of this crinkle dichroic which I have used in other fused glass earrings and pendants.

Dream – Fused Glass Pendant

Glass Pendant

For this fused glass pendant, I love the “dream” sentiment, because I need to dream more in my life.  I usually go about my day, like most people, and rarely dream about things I would like to do sometime, like traveling.  Every once in awhile, my husband and I will talk about places we would like to visit someday (most places are overseas, so I will have to become a well-known artist making big bucks – yeah, right 🙂 ).

Anyway, back to the glass pendant, I learned something about these symbols at an Art Festival.  I have two different symbols that say happiness.  My husband was confused by it and thought one of them must be wrong.  However, someone told us that in Asia, there are many different languages that use symbols like these and they can be interpreted differently.  I hope that makes a little sense.  If anyone can explain it better, please let me know!

Gold Basket Weave Fused Glass Earrings

Fused Glass Earrings

I recently took  pictures of some of my fused glass earrings for my website.  These glass earrings are one of them.  I bought the dichroic glass in this pattern, so I just cut the glass to the shape I wanted, put some clear glass on top, and did a full fuse.   I glued the bails to the back and added the ear wires.  What do you think?  Do you like them?
