Amber Fused Glass Spoon Rest

Here are two views of this fused glass spoon rest.  It is about 7 1/2″ long, so it doesn’t take up a lot of space on your stove.  The amber-colored glass has an iridescent coating, which gives it a very interesting look to it.  The fused glass spoon rest is decorated with small white squares inside slightly larger black squares.

Black and White Fused Glass Spoon Rest

Dave helped me make this fused glass spoon rest.  I decided to make a black spoon rest, but I hadn’t come up with a design.  I was stuck.  So, I asked Dave if he had any ideas.  Right away, he said to put small white pieces of glass all over it.  So, I asked him what he meant.  So, he got the jar of white glass and looked through it and started to pick out pieces.  He cut a lot of them to get the right size and he wanted them to fit together.  Isn’t he a sweetheart?  He can come up with ideas so fast and easy, sometimes.

We didn’t glue the white pieces to the fused glass spoon rest, so they scattered as I carried it upstairs to put in the kiln.  I couldn’t figure out how the puzzle went together, so Dave glued the white pieces to the fused glass spoon rest.  This worked out so much better 🙂

Didn’t this fused glass spoon rest turn out great?

Grape Cluster Fused Glass Plate

I love this fused glass plate!  I originally made a grape cluster with leaves design on a fused glass spoon rest.  I liked it so much, I thought I would design one for a fused glass plate.  For someone who has a grape or wine theme in their kitchen or dining room, I think this fused glass plate would fit in very nicely!  Wouldn’t it be the perfect plate to serve cheese and crackers with your wine?  Also, you can display it on a shelf when you are not using it.

Making this fused glass plate was a lot of work, but I really enjoyed the process.  I cut each grape and ground it so it was smooth.  I used a ring saw to cut out the leaves.  I used a candle flame to bend green stringers for the stems.

This fused glass plate measures 8 inches by 8 inches.  I used an 8 inch square Slumper Mold to get the shape.

Let me know what you think about this fused glass plate!!  I’d love to hear from you!  It doesn’t take long to make a short comment 🙂

Absolut Vodka Bottle Cup or Vase

David made this Absolut Vodka Bottle Cup or Vase.  He used a tile saw to cut the top off.  There were sharp edges, so he polished the rim.  It is so smooth, now, that you can drink a very, very large martini from it!!  He made several different kinds, like Absolut Citron, Pepper and Mandarin.  He also made a couple from Grey Goose Vodka Bottles.

These can also be used as vases for fresh or dried flowers.

White Fused Glass Coasters

These white fused glass coasters were hard to get a decent picture of the iridized crackle glass on the top.  They are similar to other fused glass coasters I have posted to this blog.  Other colors include red, blue and black.

At an art festival we attended, we sold a set of white and and a set of black fused glass coasters.  The lady who bought them thought the two colors would look great in their living room when they were entertaining.  She said they would contrast nicely.
